Reform of the rankings

Jean Michel Loser - 2016-01-01 23:04

As expected, here are the details of the main changes for the rankings, and the reasons of this reform.

The system we used in 2015 had 2 main problems :
- too little difference of points for each players in a tournament => so the rankings never changed ! For instance, our top 10 remains the same after the USOpen... Not fun at all.
- absenteeism too disadvantageous => a real good LLTL player who miss two M1000 can't catch up a bad player who played all the tournaments.

So here is the new system for the season 2016.
We keep the old system only to determine the rankings of a tournament. And then, from these rankings, the ATP points are assigned to the players, with the ATP points scale. The winner of the LLTL tournament wins the same amount of points than the ATP winner.
For instance, the Paris-Bercy M1000.
dcb70 ends 1st with the 2015 system. So he wins 1000 pts (last column of the sheet)
anekfu, the 2nd, earns the finalist's points : 600 pts.
Then the 3rd and 4th earn the semi-finalists points : 360 pts.
And so on until the end.

I will update the rules page as soon as possible.

The yearly rankings have been updated and the new rules applied to all the tournaments of 2015.

As you can see Airwolf110, who wins 2 Grand Slams in 2015, moves from the 8th to the 2nd rank. Deserved !
On the contrary, babass et josemobilette, ranked number 4 and 5 last year without any good performance, lost 8 and 10 ranks.
Here are the details of the points earned by any player.

This new system will be tested next week with our 1st tournament (ATP250).

Feel free to ask any questions. And sorry for my poor english ;-)
